What do you teach ?
Joann teaches all Saxophones, Clarinet, Flute, Music Theory and Beginner Piano.
Where do you teach ?
Joann is based in the North West Manchester area and can provide 1-2-1 lessons around the Bolton and Salford areas.
She has a private tuition room at HW Music Megastore in Bolton, Lancashire where she's been teaching since 2013 or she can travel to you depending on where you live.
Not too local?..... no problem, why not try an online Skype, Zoom or Facetime lesson and learn from the comfort of your own home. Receive regular lessons, email correspondence, printable PDFs and lesson resources.
When do you teach ?
My lessons are offered daytimes and early evenings. I
currently have some time slots available at the weekend also.

Wed 9.30am - 7.30pm
Thur 9.30am - 7.30pm
Fri 9.30am - 7.30pm

Do you teach beginners ?
Yes, I am very happy to teach students who are new to the instrument. I teach students of all abilities and of all ages and tailor my lessons to your individual needs. You can learn for your own enjoyment or Joann can enter you for Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Grades 1-8.
Do you teach adults as well as children ?
Yes, of course!...... its never too late to learn! I have many adult students and many who take up instruments in their retirement!
How often do i need lessons ?
I recommend regular weekly lessons, however I can be flexible and do fortnightly or book each lesson as we go along. I reccomend having at least two lessons per month in order to keep up the learning and to reduce getting into any bad playing habits.
How long are the lessons ?
30 minute lessons are available for under 16s only.
For adults I recommend 60 minute lessons.
How much are the lessons ?

Can I do Exams ?
Yes, I am able to enter you for ABRSM practical and theory examinations if you wish.
Do I need my own instrument ?
Ideally, yes you will need to get your own instrument.
But if at first you don't have one, then don't worry... I can lend you one for an additional small fee for the duration of your lesson. You will need your own instrument for practice at home.
What do i need to bring to the lesson ?
Bring your instrument and any music you'd like to work on or are currently working on in the lessons. I will provide all other equipment such as music stand, backing tracks and other learning resources. I also provide handouts, exercises and sheet music in the lessons. You will need to purchase music books and songbooks from time to time.
What ages do you teach ?
I teach both adults and children off all ages. My current students range from primary school age 5+ upto the retired who are wanting to learn a new hobby. I have an enhanced DBS check which is available to view.
Do you have professional training, what are your Qualifications?
Yes. I have a B.A.(Hons) degree in Music from Salford University,
I also have grade 8 A.B.R.S.M in Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute.
I studied Music and Music Technology at A Level and I have had over 20 years of musical experience. I have been teaching since 2013.
