Joann started out spending over 10 years of her childhood as a devoted member of her local music service MAPAS playing with Saxophone Quartets, Ensembles, Wind Bands, Orchestras and Big bands. This led to gigs, musical shows, instrument workshops and tours aboard. During her college days, Joann was a big part of the Jazz and Funk band leading her to a new found interest in Jazz, Funk, Pop and Big Bands. She studied Saxophone with the late great Jazz musician George Galway (brother of world-famous flautist Sir James Galway) and later went on to Study BA Music at Salford University studying Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute with Munch Manship and Jazz/Pop arranging with Dr Robin Dewhurst. In her Final year, she specialised in Performance and Arranging.

Since graduating from The University of Salford with a degree in Music. Joann had the opportunity to manage her own group, The Joann Kerrigan Jazz Quartet. Also available as a Duo, Trio or Quintet. She also specialised in Arranging and whilst studying under the guidance of Musician, Composer/Arranger and Educator, Dr Robin Dewurst, arranged a Latin Jazz Saxophone Quartet suite for "The Saxy Ladies", an all female Saxophone Quartet consisting of four musicians from the University of Salford, of which Joann is one.

This had led to travelling throughout the UK from the World Ballroom Dance championships at Blackpool Tower to Hotels on the Isle of Wight, Dance weekends and Small Theatres, The International Wigan Jazz festival and Scarborogh Jazz Festival.

Also performing in Smaller groups and shows including, a 5 week stint at the Sheffield Crucible theatre in A Taste of Honey, shows at Performing arts and drama colleges including Guys and Dolls, Candide, Sweet Charity, Our House, Throughly Modern Millie, Grease and A Chorus Line to name a few.

Who'd have thought all that from an old beaten up clarinet stuffed at the back of the Wardrobe.
